Rock star and former actor Taylor Momsen was bitten by the performing bug — literally. She returned to the stage less than a day after she spent the night in the hospital after having suffered a gruesome spider bite.
Momsen, the Pretty Reckless singer, posted a video of her being treated last week for a spider bite, insisting she was fine after she woke up to find a spider in her bed. She joked in the video that what she really wanted to know was "When do my superpowers kick in?"
But Momsen posted a photo Tuesday showing red splotches spreading up and down her leg, writing in the Instagram caption that "poisonous spiders are NO BUENO." In a subsequent post, she shared a video of her being wheeled on a gurney with the red skin on her right shin outlined with marker.
Momsen spent the night in the hospital before she returned to the stage to perform with her band as the opening act for AC/DC in its last Mexico City show. She posted a video of her onstage Wednesday night thanking the doctors who cared for her.
"After spending the night in the ER, the great doctors of Mexico made it so I could see all you amazing people tonight, I’ll update you on my health another day, tonight was for all of you, Mexico you were amazing, thank you for so much love, we love you and will return," Momsen wrote.
Her legs appeared to be free from the red marks she shared in her social media posts from the spider bite, based on the video she shared. Fans sent her well-wishes in the comments of her multiple posts and urged her to return to Mexico soon.
One fan wrote that Momsen displayed "absolute legend behavior."
It is Momsen's second unfortunate incident involving an animal while she has been on tour with the Pretty Reckless. Momsen, a former child actor known for her roles in the film version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and on the teen TV drama "Gossip Girl," was performing two years ago when a bat flew onstage and bit her leg. She said at the time that she had to get rabies shots because of the bite.
Momsen has an Instagram highlight on her profile dedicated to the incident titled "Batgirl," a running joke between her and her fans. Ironically, she was also on tour with AC/DC then the bat attacked.
