Texas House Special Results 2026
Democrat Christian Menefee defeated fellow Democrat Amanda Edwards in a special runoff to fill the deep-blue 18th District, which has been vacant for almost a year since the death of Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner in March 2025. Menefee, the former Harris County Attorney, and Edwards, a former city council member in Houston, finished first and second in a crowded initial special election in November, with the runoff happening because no candidate got majority support.
