Facebook may be rolling out a new homepage design, which would keep ads and navs in place as you scroll through the newsfeed.
A few users have already been testing the redesign, writes Inside Facebook, which features a fixed ads, app bookmarks and a frozen top navigation bar.
Locking down the controls would make it easier to navigate through the site, so it's likely users will be happy about this. If games and other apps also immobilized in the sidebars, that would make them more visible — and that's something developers will be happy about.
But the upcoming redesign's effect on ads could be the prime motivator behind this redesign. VentureBeat says that fixed ads would make ad space more valuable. This would make Facebook more money, and even increase the company's worth, Inside Facebook suggests. Though, I think freezing ads would just make it easier for me to tune them out.
