Crist: Voter ID laws are 'just plain wrong'

In an interview Wednesday afternoon on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports, Charlie Crist, the former GOP governor of Florida, called voter ID measures of the kind backed by Republicans in several states, "just plain wrong."

Crist, now an independent, told Mitchell that Attorney General Eric Holder was “on the right track” when he recently described such laws as "poll taxes."

Crist added that voter ID laws "impede the natural right of democracy and a citizen’s right to have their voice heard in important elections," and called such laws "unconscionable."

A Pennsylvania voter ID law that could disenfranchise as many as 750,000 people is the subject of a lawsuit being heard in state court today.
