Fuel is so expensive that America's shrimpers can't afford to work

The surge in diesel prices since the Iran war make it almost impossible to turn a profit, shrimp boat captains told NBC News: "The industry is going to disappear."

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — As of last week, it cost around $80,000 to fill up the fuel tank on Capt. Wilmer Ruiz’s shrimp boat. The trouble is, the crew would need to bring in close to three times the usual catch to make it worth getting on the water.
