A New York woman heads home today after giving birth to triplets and then undergoing emergency heart surgery.
Doctors performed an emergency caesarean operation after the woman came to the hospital August 19th with head and neck pain. They determined she had a tear in her aorta that would have killed her within 48 hours.
Stony Brook University Hospital scrambled two surgical teams --one to deliver the babies and the other to perform open heart surgery.
Everyone seems to be doing fine now. But mom goes home alone. The babies were premature at 31 weeks and have to stay in the hospital’s neo-natal care unit for another month.
