Pup lost in Montana pops up in Texas

A 10-month-old terrier who disappeared after leaping from her owner's vehicle during a hunting trip in the Montana wilderness is back home in Texas, none the worse for wear from her outdoor adventure.

A tiny dog is back home in southeast Texas after surviving an adventure in the Montana wilderness.

The 10-month-old terrier mix named Esther vanished when she jumped from a Beaumont-area man’s truck as he was hunting in Montana.

He and a friend searched for the puppy for six hours, but gave up when they decided they couldn’t further delay their 2,000-mile drive home.

Five days and nights later, on Oct. 18, a Montana man hunting moose in the backcountry spotted a coyote on the hunt. Looking closer, he saw the little dog running for her life. The pilot shot the coyote and rescued Esther.

The man stopped at a nearby store, where a woman recognized Esther and eventually got the pup back home.
