Angered by Facebook profile, man attacks granny

Man arrested for attacking elderly grandma over Facebook: report.

Police say a South Florida man upset over a Facebook account took out his anger on his 86-year-old grandmother.

Jeff Atwell, 26, was arrested Monday on charges of battery on a person 65 or older and criminal mischief after he allegedly attacked the elderly matriarch in West Palm Beach, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Atwell allegedly grabbed 86-year-old Willie Atwell twice by her neck and collar before his father pulled him off her, police said.

Police said Atwell had walked into the house he shares with grandma "extremely upset about Facebook account."

Atwell said he didn't care about anybody, and allegedly punched holes in a wall, broke a stove by throwing a chair at it and damaged a fan during his social network-induced rampage.

Willie Atwell told police that if her son hadn't been there, her grandson may have killed her or harmed her even worse.

Jeff Atwell was being held on $6,000 bond at the Palm Beach County jail Tuesday. it was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
