Volvo Cars is recalling 105,000 cars worldwide, including about 30,000 in the United States, because of a problem with the steering system, the company said Tuesday.
The problem affects the 2004 S60, S80 and V70 models and can be fixed at a Volvo repair shop, company spokesman Peter Ganjbar said.
The problem, which involves ball joints in the steering system, hasn’t caused any accidents, but could affect handling, he said.
The recall also includes 17,000 cars in Sweden, 10,000 in Britain and 9,000 in Germany.
U.S.-based Ford Motor Co. bought Volvo Cars in 1999.
