Richard Simmons pledges to 'get you fit to fly'

Air New Zealand is enlisting the help of fitness celebrity Richard Simmons to get air travelers to pay attention to the in-flight safety briefing.

Air New Zealand is enlisting the help of fitness celebrity Richard Simmons to get air travelers to pay attention to the in-flight safety briefing.

The carrier's latest safety video, "Fit to Fly with Richard Simmons," features the fitness guru running through the in-flight safety "exercises."

In the video, Simmons, wearing a blue tank top emblazoned with a sequined Air New Zealand logo, promises to "get you fit to fly."

"First, let's stretch it out and lose that baggage," Simmons says, as participants demonstrate how to place luggage in the overhead bin or stash it safely under the seat.

Simmons then shows viewers how to correctly position the seat belt. "When the seat belt sign comes on, buckle it in," he says. "To undo your belt, just lift the flap. No sweat!"

The video was uploaded to YouTube March 27.

Air New Zealand is known for its humorous videos, which also feature rapper Snoop Dogg, the All Blacks rugby team and Rico the naughty puppet.
