A Mauldin man knows what it means to have a lucky day — followed by a second one.
On their way to Columbia to cash in a $200,000 winning lottery ticket, the man and his wife stopped and bought another lottery ticket that was a $10,000 winner.
The man, whose name is not being released, said, “I told my wife I must have an angel on my shoulder.”
The odds of winning $200,000 playing the Black Ticket are a little more than 1 in 497,000. The odds of winning $10,000 on a Carolina Millionaires Club card, by matching the CASH symbol, are 1 in 120,000. The odds against both happening a day apart are astronomical.
The couple is enjoying the lucky streak and plans to test its longevity.
“I think I might buy a ticket on the way home,” the winner said.
Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000.
Quick Stop in Greenville received $2,000 for selling the Black Ticket. Kangaroo Express No. 3441 in Prosperity received $100 for the Carolina Millionaires Club win.
