Ned Colt

Ned Colt is an NBC News correspondent based in Beijing and Hong Kong. 

He joined NBC in 1996, first working in the London Bureau, then moving to Asia in 1997. Since then, he has traveled extensively for NBC, covering a wide array of reports, including: the award of the 2008 Olympic games to Beijing, the devastating earthquakes in India and Turkey, efforts to save the giant panda, rioting and political upheaval in Indonesia, the ever-evolving relations between Washington and Beijing, reuniting families in North and South Korea, the U.S. war against terror in Afghanistan, and efforts to save the orangutan in the jungles of Borneo. Colt has also reported for NBC from Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.

In addition to extensive experience in broadcast journalism overseas, Colt began his career as a reporter in the United States. From 1982 to 1991 he worked at network affiliates in Boston, Raleigh, Jacksonville and Duluth.

A New England native, Colt grew up in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Colt is a skilled craftsman, restoring homes as a hobby. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College.
