The National Biodiesel Board, a trade group representing the U.S. biodiesel industry, spent $235,002 in the second quarter to lobby Congress and federal agencies on various biofuels issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
In the April-June period, the group lobbied Congress on the farm bill's bioenergy program, biomass-based diesel requirements, modification of the country's renewable fuel standard, and extension and reform of biodiesel tax incentives.
The group also lobbied the Environmental Protection Agency, Agriculture Department and U.S. Trade Representative, according to the report filed July 17 at the Senate clerk's office.
Among those registered to lobby for the organization was Manning Feraci, former chief of staff to Rep. Kenny Hulshof, R-Mo.
Members of the group include agribusiness conglomerate Cargill Inc., consumer products maker Procter & Gamble Co., a variety of small biofuels companies, and state and national soybean associations.
