Kids Tackle Triathlon

Dozens of local children spent Sunday not on the couch watching television or playing video games, but instead competing in a triathlon in the Town of Tonawanda. Some of the competitors were as young as four-years-old. The first event of the day was swimming, then it was on to riding bikes, and they finished up with a run. The event is called the Kids "n" Balance triathlon and it's open to kids ages 4-18. Some of them trained throughout the summer to get ready.

"My goal with Kids "n" Balance is to try to choose a healthier lifestyle," explains Rachel Miller of Kids "n" Balance, "We want people to get out and start exercising more, so I thought this would be a great thing. They've never had anything like this in Tonawanda so it was something different other than the football and soccer."

The 47 participants were divided by age group for today's competition.
