A local animal shelter is sending out a big "thank you" to people across the Tri-State.
Grant County Animal Shelter workers said that before this weekend, the shelter was in crisis mode because so many dogs needed a home.
Some of the pups were even in danger of being put down if people didn't come forward to adopt them.
However, thanks to adoption fairs that were held this weekend shelter workers said more than 40 dogs have found homes.
"I have to give all the credit to our volunteers. They really kicked in and helped us a bunch over the weekend. Jessica, Shannon, Shera -- all of them really kicked in and all of the friends of the shelter has kicked in and done a wonderful job," director Brent Caldwell said.
Shelter workers said at one point, they had more than 120 dogs and only 60 kennels at the shelter.
