Communications technology provider Harris Corp. said Wednesday it received a $60 million contract to continue work on a satellite control network for the U.S. Air Force.
The award was made under a first-year option for the Network and Space Operations and Maintenance program.
The program includes six one-year options that, if exercised, could bring the value of the total contract to $405 million.
Harris and a team of subcontractors including a Lockheed Martin Corp. unit are helping with operations and maintenance of a global satellite control network run by the Air Force's 50th Space Wing.
The network is based in Colorado Springs, Colo., and links control of space programs managed by the Department of Defense and other national security space agencies.
Harris' team also includes a Nortel Networks Corp. unit, Faith Enterprises Inc., ASRC Aerospace, Arctic Slope World Services and Gunther Douglas.
Shares of Melbourne, Fla.-based Harris fell $1.58, or 4.5 percent, to $33.81 in afternoon trading.
