Police: Oakland Man Allegedly Shot Neighbor Over Music

Oakland police arrest an 80-year-old man on felony assault charges after he allegedly shot his neighbor because of loud music.

Oakland police report that a man was shot in the chest in West Oakland late Thursday during a dispute between neighbors. Oakland police arrested an 80-year-old man on felony assault charges overnight Thursday.

The man is accused of shooting his 30-year-old neighbor in the shoulder.

Police said there are inconsistencies in the reports of what happened on the 1900 block of Linden Street (map) but they think the two men were involved in an argument over loud music.

The victim is expected to survive.
