Keith Morrison reports on the 1992 murders of Tanna Togstad and Tim Mumbrue in rural Waupaca County, Wisconsin.

The evening of Friday, March 20, 1992, began as a fun night out for Tanna Togstad and Tim Mumbrue in the rural county of Waupaca, Wisconsin. The couple went to a bar on a double date and did some country swing dancing before ending up at Tanna’s farmhouse.

No one heard from the couple on Saturday, which was unusual. Sunday came and still no word.

When relatives went to the house to check on them, they discovered a horrifying scene.

Tanna and Tim had been brutally murdered in Tanna’s bedroom. Police gathered whatever forensic evidence they could find at the scene.

For decades, Tim’s and Tanna’s loved ones waited for justice. Until 2022, when a tip from the daughter of one of the men on investigators’ radar came in. She thought her deceased father could be the killer. In order to find out, authorities would have to exhume him for testing.

But would raising the dead give them the answers they needed -- or lead to someone else entirely?
