Gary Spohr and Wendy Wood lived in paradise on the shores of Lake Tahoe, enjoying their retirement.
On June 5, 2021, the couple spent the late afternoon on the lake with their daughter Erin and her children. After Erin and the grandkids left, the couple settled in for the evening. But they weren’t alone.
As security camera would later reveal, a masked man had entered the house while they were out. He shot and killed Gary. He then shot Wendy, who was able to dial 911, but unable to speak.
By the time the fire department arrived at the scene, the killer had fled.
