Dennis Murphy reports on the latest trial for the 2014 murder of Dan Markel in Tallahassee, Florida.

It was the summer of 2014 in sunny Tallahassee, Florida.

The opening scene of a Shakespearean-like drama.

Dan Markel and Wendi Adelson had recently divorced and shared custody of their two young boys. As part of the custody agreement, both would still live in Tallahassee, where Dan was a professor at FSU. That became a sore point, as Wendi wanted to move to South Florida with the boys to be closer to her family.

What began as a bitter custody battle was about to spiral into something far darker...

At 11 a.m. on July 18, 41-year-old Dan Markel was shot twice in the head as he returned home from the gym.

Watch as loved ones remember Dan as a fun-loving, welcoming friend and father.

Four people are already in prison for their roles in the murder, including Wendi’s brother Charlie Adelson. In the latest chapter, it’s Donna Adelson, the family matriarch, who goes on trial. The case against her includes brand-new evidence, explosive testimony and the prosecution’s new star witness: the defendant’s eldest son, Robert.
