Andrea Canning reports on the 2022 murder of Eric Richins in Kamas, Utah.

Kamas, Utah residents Eric and Kouri Richins had it all, so it seemed. They were both business owners, raising their three boys together.

But it all came crashing down on March 4, 2022, when Kouri found Eric in their bed, not breathing. Out of nowhere, the young husband and father was dead. He was only 39 years old.

The entire family was now faced with the overwhelming grief of sudden loss.

Kouri wrote a children’s book to help her boys cope with the loss of their father. She even went on the local news to promote the book and share her story as a grieving mother, doing the best she could for her children.

But behind the scenes, investigators had developed a theory about Eric’s death.

The didn’t think it was out of nowhere at all. They thought it was murder.
